Fox Chain of Lakes including the Fox River
Walleyes have been active in current areas like bridge funnels, channel mouths and the river, many being caught on live bait including fathead minnows or nightcrawlers dragged slowly behind rigs or tipped on jigs as well as jig and gulp combos & crankbaits.
White Bass starting to show up in the river as well as good catches reported on Marie and Bluff lakes on smaller minnows, & spinners.
Musky have been fairly active floating suckers or perch along deep weed edges on Channel & Catherine as well as casting bucktails or jerkbaits around points on Marie. Don’t rule out just outside of current areas where walleye roam when targeting chain ski’s.
Catfish are very active near channel mouths during daylight hours and deeper into the channels overnight, cut bait dipped in a stink bait of your choice on a treble hook has been our #1 bait, but we are also seeing some fish caught on crankbaits also. They seem to be tighter to cover on the river, getting the bait upriver of deadfalls so the scent drifts down to them in the snags is producing some fish.
Crappies have moved into many of the channels now good catched being reported free floating (no weight) shiners on a #10 gold aberdeen hook 12 to 18″ under a thin balsa stick bobber & small jigs tipped with small minnows or spikes. .
Bass are being caught in and around channel mouths on Channel, the topwater bite has slowed considerably with cooler water temps, a few reports came in with success using floating rapala stick baits casting parralel to weedlines with a slow retrieve. A few smallmouth being picked up in the river by walleye fisherman.
Bluegills nave been very active in and around both lake & channel area weed beds on small aberdeen hooks or ice jigs tipped with waxies, spikes or red worms.
Carp are everywhere and nave been good on corn & dough baits
